In august 2008, I spent a week in Montréal, occasionally recording my activities as I explored the city for the first time. This work is an attempt at approaching the memories of my time there.
Memory, it seems, much like sound recordings, has a tendency to pale and decay over time. I was interested in these pale fragments of experience, their lack of adherence to linearity. Through the process of composition I tried to explore notions of understatement and boredom, documentation and re-presentation, banality and significance; the pitfalls of memory and the task of remembering.
